Program: Environmental Education
Partner: Trinity Lutheran School
Location: Winnebago County Park
Location: Central City Oshkosh relatively diverse and predominantly low-income.
Shannon Davis-Foust, Mary Beth Petesch, and Paul Van Auken led the activities with other volunteers.
Tenth and 8th grade students and their teacher met at our hub, the Pavilion in Winnebago County Park, future site of ecological restoration work.
Starting with a web of life activity and then group work to identify birds and plants, gather and examine samples, etc., all around exploring of the pond area ecosystem.
Their teacher, Joe Rein rated the activities very highly on our evaluation survey -
"It was very well done and my students loved the hands on lab approach."
Program: Environmental Education
Partner: North High School
Location: Winnebago County Park
30 Junior students and their teacher, Rick Leib met at our hub, led by Shannon Davis-Foust and Mamadou Coulibaly "Coul" from our Steering Committee.
Teaching focused on trees, learning details about how to identify them and all the benefits they provide, including storing carbon to counteract climate-change.

Program: Outdoor Family Yoga
Partner: Boys and Girls Club
Location: Winnebago County Park
UEO worked with the Oshkosh Boys and Girls club to develop a pilot outdoor family yoga class to serve their member families. The class was designed to increase awareness to nature, develop our senses, and instill a sense of calmness and relaxation after school.
Community Project: Menominee Park Shoreline Restoration
UEO has taken on project management of a portion of the northern shore of Menominee Park to manage annual clean-up, monitoring of native plants lining, and installed bird houses.
